83 GL1100 carb. float adjustment

what is the corect float hight setting and where do you measure from--the end of the float or the middle? Also the engine will go to idle but will come down slowly--- I have rebuilt the carbs with
new kits and cleaned. This bike was sitting for 5 years.

Here's a picture of the gauge I made for mine. To set the floats stand the carbs on end so that the float just makes contact with the valve needle. Once you get it back together you might want to run some Seafoam thru the system. It helps get the last crud that might still be in the carbs.


Also if you haven't visited Randakks.com I highly recommend it, He's the foremost authority on the Honda carbs and has some outstsanding tech tips.
