valve adjustment question

Postby chrisz » Mon Jul 06, 2015 7:48 pm

Hi all,

Did my first valve adjustment on my GL1100. Found all of the valves tight, so set them up per manual. Question, does this engine's valves go tight between adjustments or loose? (I don't know when the last time the valves were checked/adjusted by previous owner, bike has 82K km on it.)

Also to help with removal of the stator bolt cover I removed the plastic do-hickey that has a vent line to it, and dumped the gooey mess, why is that captured, can't it be just drained to the ground?

Thanks,

If anything they will loosen but usually they don't move at all if set up correctly. The do-hicky is a EPA thing you can remove it but I'd but some kind of filter on the end of that line, even just some foam up in the tube.
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,
