I got that sweet smell and oil in my water,,X!#@.

4 years ago, or 30K miles later I have to do it again. This will be the third and final time for new head gaskets. I am too long at the tooth to be doing this, #*!#,,lol. I got my parts from a seller on E bay,,Maccycles everything was great, as far as gaskets, complete upper end kit. He is no longer in business.
Besides Honda,, (I've been raped enough) does anyone know a good supplier of top end gaskets,?
I am also going to do the water pump thing, Not that I suspect the pump, but on researching posts here, I see that gasket for pump may be causing me to preload shifter before changing gears. If I don't preload, it makes a loud thunk. Anyways, thanks to all who have helped me over the years. I have not done the compression thing yet, first thing to do in the morning before it get's to be 98* w/ 100% humidity. lol.

Good read here: http://www.randakksblog.com/gl1000-gl11 ... t-details/ You may already be aware of all this but if not you may learn something new about replacement of head gaskets.

Try the Athena top end gasket from bikebandit.
I used it, 5000 miles later and no problems.
Around $100 or so.
They are guaranteed to be as good as OEM or better. Regards, Johnny
