What's this thing?

Postby profneilwalker » Sat Jul 25, 2015 10:33 am

Anyone know what this black box under the seat of my 1982 Aspencade is? It has two LEDs, and a wiring bundle that goes to a relay. It has a wire direct to the battery positive, disconnected. Doesn't look like OE to me.

I can only confirm it is NOT OE. Sorry I cannot say more. Good Luck!

Looks suspiciously like an electronic rust proofer to me. When I was in the car parts biz I used to see used cars come into the dealership with these under the hood. They're supposed to prevent rust by sending an electric charge through the metal parts. Did they work? Most of the ones I saw had rust on the screws that attached them to the car.

Trailer wiring???...Maybe???

Looks a lot like the remote door lock/trunk popper/horn honker/car alarm controller that I've been planning on installing on my 1500. Does it have a black wire for antenna that's not bundled with the rest? Follow the wires and see where they go.
