Turn signals

Post by Scottykct » Sat Aug 01, 2015 8:46 am

Hi, I have a 81 GL 1100 and the turn signals are very erratic. They usually work at the higher rpms but it's hit or miss at idle. Any suggestions? Scottykct

Sounds like either your battery or stator is weak.
Check your battery voltage when your bike is at idle then again at about 3K RPM or when ever the turn signls are working properly.
A normal 12v batery will have about 12.4 volts at rest. At 3K my bike is making around 13.8 volts. Anything below 12 volts when running is a cause for concern.
Hopefully it is just a battery.
