83 1100 fuel leak

Postby ronniestocks » Fri Aug 21, 2015 10:48 pm

is it possible to remove 2&4 carbs from plenum WITHOUT removing the whole shebang--have a fuel leak SOMEWHERE on #2 carb beyond "line of sight"--doesn't "look" like it would be too big a deal, but my ignorance is only slightly exceded by my stupidity. You folks have ALREADY been of great help just by being able to read all the great info posted. The site is jam-packed with really "usable" info, again, many thanks and I'm SURE someone has the "right" answer. Ronnie

You have to split the plenum to remove carbs from the rack. Remove the whole rack from the motor as you need to use a hand impact driver to loosen the screws on the plenum and the carbs themselves (any screw on these bikes) or you'll be looking at using an easy out to remove the screws you tear up the heads on.

Not the news I wanted to hear-lol--but AGAIN, but it IS the news I NEEDED to hear--thanks so much, you folks are worth your weight in gold---wings....will go to wal-mart and get the excedrin migrain meds, say a short prayer to the "motorcycle gods" and hope for the best. Am sure I will be posting info on this site--it will be the "and NEVER do this" kind of post I"m sure-lol..again, many thanks and keep the shiny side up!--Ronnie
