turnsignal switch clicking.

Postby Jeff_65 » Sat Aug 22, 2015 8:56 am

Hello everyone.
Turnsignal switch on my 83 GL 1100i continues to click/chatter n I sometimes have to bump the the switch to the right to get the right side light to come back on.
I'm planning on replacing grips, would it be a good idea to just go ahead n replace both controls as well?
Thanks in advance.

Jeff

I would try cleaning the switches up with contact cleaner before I would replace the controls. disassemble as much as possible and spray the contact cleaner on contact areas, the springs etc. and work the switches and spray again, often time on these old machines it is just years of dust and stuff that affects the functions of the switches. I have read several threads that say do not use WD-40 because it has a little oil in it and it will attract more dirt and stuff quickly. You could try WD-40 first to see if it frees up the switch, then clean it with the contact cleaner to remove the oil and stuff. :D :D
