Postby ggiggogg » Tue Sep 01, 2015 2:51 am

Anyone know turn ratio between the right camshaft and speedometer cable link to speedometer.I replaced GL1200 engine in my GL1100,which GL1200 engine send electric signal to front panel and display the RPM.I plan to make a set of gearbox and will be install in back of right camshaft.

Anyone understand my question?

Sorry for my English,Thank You

Well the ratio between the camshaft and the speedometer cable is going to depend entirely on what gear the bike is in - and whether or not the clutch is held in or not.

If you're talking about the ratio of the camshaft to engine RPM, it is exactly half - so engine RPM of 3,000 means the camshaft will be turning at 1,500 RPM.

Sorry for my English,Thank you.

As I understand the question , he wants to know the ratio between the camshaft and Tach drive. If cam is turning 1500rpm what is the rpm of the tach cable? Sorry I dont know the answer, but I bet someone here does....... 8-)

I tried looking it up in a few places, but did not find the information anywhere. You might be relegated to watching the tach drive and counting revolutions as you manually pull the engine through 360 degrees to determine a ratio.
