Rougher tires for 1982 GW Asp

Postby RenWinger » Mon Sep 07, 2015 10:09 pm

Hello,

I am wondering what kind of tires fit on the wheels of my 1982 GW Asp.
I did change the bike into a naked bike and am aiming for the Scrambler look.
Not off road tires but a bit more pattern than the usual road tires. Rougher looking.
Thank you!

You might have a bit of a tough time with this. The number of tires that fit the 82 GL1100 (and have the correct load rating) is fairly small to begin with.

By removing the fairing and all boxes in from the back end the bike is now 200Lbs. lighter.

I know a few guys that run Shinko 705 tires on their GS 750s....not sure if there are sizes to fit your 82. They claim that they handle and grip just fine on the street

Yes, the Shinko 705's is what I did find so far. Thank you
Finding the right size is the trick here.
A salesrep suggested these sizes but I am not sure if they will fit the 16" and 18" wheels.
Your front tire is 110/90-19 & your rear tire is 130/90-17.
