Oil Pressure

Postby DAVE THE DRAPE » Tue Jul 13, 2010 1:58 pm

My Honda Goldwing GL1100 has low oil pressure, when cold its 40-60psi, then 5 minutes later when warm its drops to 20psi, is it the oil pump? If so which one would it be? The engine is very noisy when the pressure drops.
Also, would GL1200 Aspencade Oil pump fit my 1100 honda?
Thanks for any help.

Have just replaced the crank in my GL 1100 due to a clogged up sump filter. It is located down on the engine on the right side, you may have to lossen the frame and bend it out a little to get to oit. The silikongasket between the to engine halfs had loosened and clogged up the filter completely. The oil warning light came on and stop :-( Rod got burned in to the crank. Check this filter, a lot less work then starting on the oilpump. Remeber to cut the bolts on this filter, so that you dont have to loosen the frame next time. Sorry about the bad english, I am norwegian :)

Hi
Thanks for your reply :)
I will certainly investigate this, It would be less trouble than removing the oil pump
Do you mean shorter bolts to connect cover back, would they just clear the frame then?

PS Your english is fine
