Need bigger jets????

Postby maintainer » Sun Sep 20, 2015 12:44 pm

Not that I live at high rpm's on the ole wing but I do want it to operate properly. Ever since I bought my 1100 it has had an odd operating situation. Like I said, I haven't been too concerned as I don't run it at higher rpm's that much. BUT, when I do pin it and accelerate at W.O.T. it consistently run out of steam above 6500 rpm's. It's like someone kinks the fuel line and it is starved in that rpm range. It starts, runs, idles, and rev's from 1000- 6500 perfectly. What could be wrong?

A possibility is the fuel cap not venting properly. Loosen the cap and go for a ride. Bigger jets you don't need. There is a problem somewhere.

Yeah, I just said bigger jets to draw more replies. :)
I have studied the plugged vented fuel cap issue.
Mine does not hiss after a ride when you remove the gas cap so I think it's good.
On another forum someone suggested my vacuum advance could be faulty, this seems like a logical possibility.

That would be the first (and cheapest/easiest) thing I would try.

Just to let everyone know and give WingAdmin his due: I changed my fuel filter and completely transformed the upper powerband. Now she pulls with all her might to redline with no bog or hesitation. Runs like new, overlooked the first rule of repair, go simple before going complex. Thanks
