rear shock lower bushings

Postby aznyaz » Tue Sep 29, 2015 10:20 am

Is there a metal sleeve that fits inside the rubber bushing for the right rear lower shock mount. I have seen one in the photos in the tutorial for removing the rear wheel but cannot find anything in the parts manual even though there is one shown on the rear shock absorber page, reference #16, part #52486-463-000. I ordered this and it is clearly for the left rear shock but labeled COLLAR, RR. SHOCK, and is too small to fit over the stud on the final drive.

What am I missing here?

MJ

Hi MJ,

I took off the shocks today because I removed my rear wheel.
There is no collar at the right side (at the final drive).
Look here, the 16 is only for the left side.

Thanks TR6, this is exactly what I deduced. I had already ordered the part but when it arrived I could see it wasn't for the right side (funny that it's labeled RR) but I'm still wondering why the photos I mentioned show a shock bushing with a metal sleeve that slips over the final drive stud.

The collar is only needed because the left lower side ist fitted with a bolt. The bolt has a thread, the thread isn't good for the rubber and therefore the collar.
I don't know why the extension 'rr' is on the part description.

Good work :-)

Have you seen the photos on the rear wheel removal tutorial? They show a sleeve in the bottom bushing of the right rear shock. That's what I'm wondering about.

Yes, you will see it. Good luck with the work. Ask questions.
