Upgrading Heads

Postby Juanco » Tue Oct 13, 2015 8:12 am

Hello all, new guy here... looking for help!
I got a 1982 GL1100 and 1985 GL1200. I also have problem with my knees and back, and like everybody else I don’t want to quit ridding as long as there are alternatives out here. Been looking at trike kits, one of the guys in my VFW club is willing to let me try his voyager kit. He's running it on a GL1200, he said that my 1100 would have a hard time pulling it.
My GL1200 had bad heads and bad fuel pump on it, would the 1100 heads with fuel pump work on the 1200?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

What exactly is wrong with the 1200 heads?

Edit-Oh, here's a thought-the 1980 final drive I think has a lower gear ratio, and that may give you the torque you need for the 1100. Different years had different final drive and transmission ratios, and by studying that, you may come up with a compromise. My 1980 is pretty torquie...hey-I made a word!!!

There is nothing wrong with them, besides the oil leaks and loud valve noises. I think the problem is he cannot get the electric fuel pump to work, we have a lot of electric issues. We fix one two more pop up. I think the plan is to take the 1100 heads with fuel pump that way we have no other issues.
