I have a 82 gl1100 I that will start fine but after I ride for awhile and stop and come back out it will hardly turn over, no clicking or anything like that but if I wait a couple of minutes then it will start fine. Wires have been retightened voltage has been ck and is fine, starter button has no hangups it is strange and I havent been able to track it down. Any suggestions would be helpfull.

So it cranks slow when hot and better when it cools down?
Verify one thing...when it does this, turn the kill switch to the off position and see how it cranks. If it's fast, look into valve adjustments and possible flooding in the carbs...A flooding condition can be verified by...again expecting this problem but turn off the fuel when you shut off the bike.
If all this doesn't help and the engine cranks slow when hot..pull the starter and service it....clean,lube,grease,brushes,etc.

Refreshing the starter motor on mine fixed a lot of the sluggish start when hot problem.

Another fix was to clean up all the earth or grounds on the bike - particularly the main cable from the battery to earth - mine was pretty rusty where it mounted to the frame, this also helped.

The starter was pulled and refreshed this spring. I will adjust the valves and ck for carb flooding as the carbs were rebuilt this spring also but it won't hurt to ck. will have to ck the grounds though I'm sure they could use some work. This bike sat for a few years and it's been a work in progress. So we will ck it out thanks. Allan
