rear shock "REPAIR" on a 82' GL1100A

Postby kajunmisfitt » Thu Oct 22, 2015 1:00 am

I have been away for a little bit, So I need something cleared up. I am still having trouble with the rear shocks (a) I changed the shocks altogether. (b) I got the air pump to work all the time. (c) when I have a passenger the shocks it bottoms out, something it is very hard. I was told that they are rebuildible . I was told I will just take the oil that is in it out buy turn them upside down over night. Then replace the oil with new stuff. should make it work is this something that will work?

Not sure on the oil trick, but it sounds like your springs are "tired". One way to tell - does your bike stand almost straight up when leaning on the side stand? If it does, the springs are done. The shocks are rebuildable, parts are on bikebandit.com
Let us know how it goes. Regards, Johnny

as said the best option is to rebuild. there is a good "how to" in the DIY section..........

I still have the top flange which has been drilled out. Any one is welcome to use it. Pay for shipping to you and from you. It fits in a padded envelope.

PM me if interested.
