1983 1100 fuel pump

Postby jrj289 » Thu Oct 22, 2015 11:38 am

Hi, I have a 83 1100 that sat for years, in going thru the fuel system I took off the top of the fuel pump and removed the red and black plastic discs( and tiny spring) for inspection. I believe I put them back in incorrectly, I got the bike to start but oil is coming out of small hole in side of fuel pump when running.
Can someone help with figuring how those parts go back in correctly please.
I do not have a manual and cannot find schematic detailing proper install.

That's not what my GL pumps look like inside..one side has a brass "dome' with fiber plug and spring inside and the other has a black button plate..I have one out maybe I'll take it all apart and take a pic of two..

I'm just curious as to why they are so different considering they are both from the gl1100 and I believe mine was the original as the records of the bike don't mention it ever being changed .
