1100 remove driveshaft from swingarm?

Postby Flyboy6 » Sun Nov 29, 2015 3:28 pm

I am pulling my 1100 apart to do a full lookover, repaint etc this winter. Just the engine left to pull out of frame - no problem getting swingarm off (bought the 100 buck tool last 83 I did) but can't seem to separate the driveshaft itself out from the swingarm.

Any advices?

Did you take the curclip off?
It is a pain to get out.
Look in the boot with a bright light. Is the clip still on? If so that is why you can not get them separated.

Tell us what you did so we can know where you are at in the project and give you some avice.

yup - circlip off (after a few of these now it gets easier!).

Swingarm is off the bike (photo not quite current) - in fact I'm down to engine in frame, will be lifting frame off the motor tonight.

I had expected the drive shaft to loosely slide out the front of the swingarm once liberated - but not so. Bike has been running happily up until disassembly last week, so everything should be loose and smooth in there. Just don't want to force it if there is another clip or retainer I am missing at the back end...
