turn signals on GL1100 1980

Postby new2gold » Thu Jul 22, 2010 8:13 pm

My 15A fuse blows when I turn on the signals while going down the highway at 65 mph. I can run the signals in the shop while the engine is at idle speed on the center stand for ever without blowing the fuse. When going down the highway at 65 mph and turning on the signal there is a loud noise each time the signal flashes but in the shop at idle speeds the sound is just a click. Any ideas where to look for a problem.

I wonder if it is a loose wire shorting to ground when it gets a large push from the wind?
Does this bike have one of those turn signal beepers? Start there.

In the triple tree area behind the fairing where the headlight should be on a naked bike.
