82' interstate exhaust

Postby turn2rick » Tue Dec 01, 2015 7:05 pm

I just bought a 82' interstate I found for a "have to buy it" price of $500. The previous owner decided to chop off the exhaust. I don't think my neighbors are going to like me too much if I fire it up at 4:30am to go to work in the summer. What I wanted to know if I could simply take off the exhaust/muffler off of my 78' gl1000 and put it on the 82'.

Thanks for any input. Am not much of a mechanic so hopefully it would be something easy to perform.

I found this exhaust system for sale on Craig's List. The label says 76 Goldwing, but the text says GL1100. We both know that can't be. But if it is an 1100 set up you may be in luck. Don't know anything about this but thought I would share it with you.

You can it's the connectors and hangers that have to be modded...

Thanks, I misread that about 1000 or 1100. Still early here. Thanks for the correction.

Didn't feel like messing around and bought a pair of MAC chrome exhausts. Easy installation, but a little tough on the wallet. I actually paid $30 less for the exhaust then a did for the bike.
