Any good bike mechanics in Alberta?

Postby GarrettBeaudoin » Tue Dec 22, 2015 11:36 pm

Im thinking of having my 81 1100 tuned up and am wondering if anyone knows of any recommended motorcycle mechanics in Alberta. Im having trouble finding any that seem half reputable. Just looking for a general tune up, its getting hard to start. Thanks!

Can you replace spark plugs and put a new air filter in ? Maybe even a new battery? Just being hard to start can be many small things combined - or a larger issue.

Are you able to do some small things yourself ?

What is the maintenance history on the bike?

What are the hard starting symptoms ??

cheers :)

Hey, I've tried all sorts of things with it, balancing carbs, plug gaps, new plugs, battery is fine, haven't done the air filter, but it looks alright. Im thinking what it needs is the carbs tuned, but that's over my head. It just runs very poorly and spits and sputters when started cold. You have to constantly run the throttle to keep it from stalling until it warms up. Once it's warm it runs like a top. I have tuned single carb bikes before, but having the 4 is a little intimidating, so I was hoping to find someone that knows what they're doing.

Have you tried Garry Chapman? Although I haven't used him myself but he comes very highly rated by folks in our GWRRA Chapter. He works on nothing but Goldwings no matter the year.

Not exactly next door to you. Have you got a trailer?
