Fairing lowers

Postby blackomen » Wed Dec 23, 2015 6:40 pm

Just got in a set of fairing lowers for my 83i. It doesn't seem to have the bracket or stay for the lower mounting point. Can someone post a pic of where they're supposed to mount? The top two are easy.

Seems like this bike hasn't had lowers on it for a while. The dipstick is mounted right in the way of the left side lower. And the engine guards are a pain.

The best part would be that the paint on the lowers is so pristine and beautiful that it makes the rest of the bike look like it was pulled out of the ocean, lol.

There should be a small bracket attached to the bottom mounting point of the radiator..if they are not there you are missing the part.

This bike is all about missing parts, lol. I'm fabricating some brackets. Just trying to make it right as much as possible.

Probably the original owner spent a boat load of money on chrome and light racks and other farckles. Then other owners over the years did their best to replace all the orings with rtv. Hack the wiring. And force sae bolts into metric holes. It's been an interesting project so far.

Most of the time I find working on these bikes fairly easy until I try fixing things previous owners have re-engineered
