In 2006 I purchased a 1200, fully dressed out. Hurt my back and figured my riding day were over. Hard to go from a Goldwing to any other bike. Fast forward to 2014, I was sitting outside looking at a small john boat I had purchased, I own a HVAC company so it had been out 3 times in 3 years. Long story short he ended up with a boat I ended up with a 1980 gl1100. I told my wife it was a 2 year build, still have a year left. It ran, i just tear all my bikes down. Last thing I did was the carb conversion. Had stumbling, knocking, surges, thats all gone. Bike runs like a champ. Did alot of research, purchased a solex 34/3 single barrell, did the mod on it for more vac, perfect. Changed out coils and wires with excell and getting ready to go with sportster mufflers and progressive springs. I dont plan on having a stock bike, i actually enjoy working on them as much as riding them.
