compression

Postby sullysycles » Mon Jul 26, 2010 11:27 am

I am getting 150psi on both right side cyl,120psi on both left side cyl ,no smoking exhaust, the low compression side seems to be running cooler out the exhaust, plugs aren't fouled, bike will not idle smoothly,2000 rpm or more seems to run pretty good ,it has been sitting about 5 years,i went through and cleaned the carbs to get it running, since low compression on both cyl. on the same side what would be the most sensible thing to look for first?

Could it be that engine was partially stuck and when you turned it over the belt on that side skipped a tooth? That could also explain the rough idle.

sounds a little low but well within limits and all close together means lots of rides to go. Happy trails.
