1982 Gl1100 Front brakes

Postby weathersh09 » Wed Jul 28, 2010 8:59 am

My bike is protesting the heat, and as a result, the front brakes have developed a mind of their own. When it gets hot outside, the front calipers squeeze onto the rotors and lock up the front tire. When it gets below 85 degrees ambient, they release. HELP!!!

Have a look at steps 8 and 8a on How to rebuild your front master cylinder. Your return port is likely clogged.

Now if you follow the excellent posting of our ( Wingadmin's) repair on the front brakes would be a good time to think about replacing the brake line too..it can break down also and clogg the small return hole.

Does anyone know where I can get the replacement rubber brake hoses for a 28 year old Wing?

Absolutely replace with braided stainless - without question the single best upgrade I have made to my 1100. I used VencoWings Paragon lines which I would highly recommend, but they are a bit pricey. You can find similar lines elsewhere as well.
