Timing belt problem

Postby Bluto » Sun Aug 02, 2009 2:51 pm

I am replacing timing belts on my 83 wing. I removed the covers and rotated to get T1 in view. My problem is camshaft pulleys are 180 out. The up is down and marks that should be line up with marks on covers are toward inside. Not sure what i need to do at this point. I wouldn't have thought it would run with it off this way. And since it will be asked this is first time for belt change.

Turn the motor over again, camshafts run at 1/2 speed relative to the crankshaft. They'll line up after the motor is rotated 360 degrees.
