Tool for removing fuse box lid on Gl1100

Post by Dan J » Mon Feb 01, 2016 3:23 pm

It's probably just me but I have found removing the lid on the fuse box of my Gl1100 a little frustrating. So this morning I decided to make a little tool to eliminate the frustration of pulling the 3 little tabs out far enough so the lid will just pop off. I took a soft plastic landscaping drip tube stake/holder and cut it in half, then filed it smooth leaving the little hook at the bottom which I fashioned a little better with a small three sided file to catch the tabs on the fuse box lid. It works great! I painted one side with a paint marker pencil and store it tucked into the air pump under my false tank lid so it is always there if or when I need it.

I love it when the innovation in us comes out. Great job.

I found having two of the three tabs broken off makes it easy also...
My wife is the greatest - she won't let me sell my bike - I'm less grumpy when I ride...
