Have you rebalanced the carbs?

The good news is that you have a 82 model, this means that the idle jets (slow jets) are designed to unscrew unlike the 81-80 models that are pressed in, remove the carbs again and look down one of those two towers on the carb after you take the bowls off and you will see the head of the jet, it will take a flathead or standard type screwdriver to fit that tower to retrieve it, unscrew them and pull all 4 idle jets and clean them well as they are more than likely clogged, lots of methods of cleaning the jets, just be careful not to damage the tiny holes use compressed air and or soak it in carb cleaner or some other choice of cleaner to weaken the clogs, there is a jet hole right down the center as well...Good luck... also check the float heights... Good luck it should idle much better after a good cleaning, then you can balance the carbs...

Yes, it's the same diameter as the side holes, the center holes have to be cleared as well for the engine to idle proper.. :D Be gentle with it, I have heard of guys trying to drill it out...don't do that,, get a small guitar string and cut a point on it with side cutters and poke very lightly after soaking it until you break thru..Good luck. Look through the search engine on the top of the page, should be lots on the subject...I got these photo's off another post here on this site, they are not my photo's Thanks to whoever posted them......
I call these the twin towers the idle jet is down one of them
