80 gl1100i fuel in vacuum advance?

Post by ronbo862 » Sat Feb 13, 2016 7:06 pm

Greetings all! New to the forum and owning a Goldwing. Keeping it short, I determined the pulse coils were defective so I pulled the ones from the parts bike I have. Wicked learning curve there, been around bikes all my life but never anything like this :) When I got into the other bike (the one I intend to ride) it looked like water got in the pulse generator assy. but it turned out to be fuel, the vacuum canister was full of it. The line is connected to the right spot, bottom of carb #3, so what gives? Also, should there be gaskets on the pulse generator assy.? And...the actual coils are good, the fuel saturated the insulation and corroded the wire to the point of no connection. I have about two inches of good wire on the coils sooo...can I splice in good wire and use shrink tubing or will the heat shrink the tubing to the point of splitting? So much for short eh? Just a wee bit excited
