Why remove the fairing? It's not in the way of the wiring for the left controls. Remove the shelter and all the connections should be right there. 8-)

Shelter is between you and the ignition key. It's about 18" wide by 2 ft. long and houses the fuel door (lid).

Please don't take this the wrong way.

The site below has parts names, exploded view pictures and OEM prices.
It take maybe 30-45 minutes for all pages if you skim through.

The shelter is the fake gas tank. 8-)

OK, I know the shelter (false tank). I have had it off and could manage this.

But the wiring appears to go in behind the inertia and then makes it's way to the head light. I believe there is a connection behind the inertia, does that seem correct?
If so, should I remove the inertia with the upper fairing on?

Thanks Fellas, tell me more.

Inertia? You meaning Cruise Control?
99% everything you need to do you don't need to remove the fairing.
Pull the turn signals out (2 screws) and pocket trays 4 screws) gets you a lot of reaching room inside that fairing.
I've got fair sized arms and reached all the way to the headlight from a fairing pocket.
If your son/daughter is small nuff maybe they can climb inside.... (just joking). ;)

Just remove the counter weight up in front of forks, right where a head light would be and wa la, all the wires will be visible. You can remove the weight without removing the fairing. Two bolts one on each side of the weight half way down on each side. The weight is held on to the bike by brackets that mount on the fork tubes, two bolts there, one each side. most of the time you can do what is needed by just removing the weight and fish around inside and take care of business.
