engine swap

Post by mekanic4755 » Tue Mar 15, 2016 12:03 pm

I have a 83 goldwing 1100, can I swap it with a little later 1200? I have found several of these used but very few of the 1100.

84 will need fewer wiring changes. All will bolt in except you will need to use the final output shaft from your 1100, it has a groove for a snapping that the 1200 lacks. Remove rear cover and straight drop-in exchange.

Thank you I thought it would. But I did not know about the final shaft.

Be aware that the 84 is a one year engine with unique parts, such as the very elusive starter motor.

Also you will the need hydraulic clutch actuating system from the 1200 and the carbs along with electric fuel pump. Bottom rad hose is different too.

'Impossible' is just a level of difficulty! The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask first!

( Seriously, you haven't read all 115 pages of my http://www.wingovations.com website ?? )
