suspension

Postby drummerdave9 » Sun Mar 27, 2016 4:44 pm

I had a blown seal on the front and a leaky shock in the rear. I replaced both sets with used sets off ebay, shady I know. Anyway after installation and pumping them up my rear is bottoming out and my front is topping out. Not sure what to do about it, or if I missed a step during install. Any help would be great. During install both sets did leak a little fluid.

You may have just transferred your original problem, with the replaced items.

I would think if they leaked a bit of oil when you installed them - then you need to either buy some new seals for the fronts (maybe have your originals rebuilt while the others are on the bike. As for the rear - maybe they are just worn out and you need to buy some new ones.

The oil came out of the airline connection. So I guess I lost some oil as opposed to leak oil. I was afraid I would still need to rebuild them. Can you recommend any good tutorials for rebuilding them? Thanks for the info

As for rebuilding the front suspension, here is the article I followed: http://www.ngwclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11831
You might want to consider replacing the springs with Progressive springs ( around $90 U.S. ). They make a world of difference!
Regards, Johnny
