dam I thought I had fixed it ???

Postby squirrel » Wed Mar 30, 2016 9:46 am

Had an issue a while ago (complete electrical failure) bare wire touching frame fixed it by replacing main fuse and wiring . Now with engine running when I switch on the lights all power goes out. No engine, no lights , no nothing . As electrics are not my forte I have no idea where to start .all fuses in the tank are good, as is the main fuse any ideas welcome thank you

The headlights but as an update its definitely one or more of the wires in between the clocks and the fairing .but there are so many of them I have no idea where to start . I wiggled them and the power came back on . I don't think its the lights as it happened 3 times today and the lights were off ???

Electrical issue solved. After removing the clocks (I removed the weight to access the two nuts underneath) and the idiot lights I could get to the ignition wiring .and after a bit of wiggling found that on the 6 wire connector the red ( live) wire on one side was a lovely shade of green and hanging on by a couple of strands
just finished fitting a new connector block .start to finish took about 4 hours , not bad for someone who knows very little about electrics . Big thank you to all for advice and help its much appreciated
