Postby cmeier65 » Wed Apr 06, 2016 7:39 pm

Hi, new to forum. I am replacing the clutch on my 83 interstate and need to know the torque specs for springs. I did not torque first attempt, over tightened and got a horrible screech while dis engaging the clutch. any help would be appreciated. thanks

When reinstalling the lifter plate, insert the two dowel bolts through the two lifter holes marked with small cast in buttons.
Install the lifter plate on the pressure plate by installing the dowel bolts into the two pressure plate holes with recessed threads. Then loosely install the four standard bolts and tighten all six bolts in two or more steps, using a crisscross pattern. Torque is 10N'm or 7 ft-lb. Free length on the springs are 35.5 mm or 1.40 in. service limit is 34.2 or 1.35 This is from page 9-5 in the service manual. Hope this helps.
