Set floats with clear tube? last owner made changes,new parts.May not be the right ones.unable to eye-ball it,or use the 15.5.so I used 4 clear tubes.All 4 within 2/4 mm of the bottom of the bowl screw. This cleared up all idle knock,no longer Smokes.dose not backfire in carbs.Both up and down in rpms fast and smooth with out problems.wants to idle at 1800 rpm.backed out the idle screw.she will drop back down to ?900 rpm when I crack the throutle but then climbs back up to 1800 rpms. Filter and housing is still off.I'm thinking its to lean,may need to adjust floats to ?? bottom of the carb body?

I think your fuel level should be higher than 2/4mm from the bottom of the bowl - sounds like they are running on empty?

The floats MUST be set at the correct height. Beg, borrow, or steal a gauge (or make one) and use it. Measure from the top of the carb body, and it must be consistent from heel to toe.
Make sure the floats are not bent in any way. They can be bent in very interesting ways, as all 4 of mine were, and they had never been taken out of the bowl! :?
"Close enough" will not cut it on this job. Regards, Johnny
