1980 Combatibility

Postby wogdom42 » Wed Apr 13, 2016 10:03 pm

Hello I am new here and have a quick question. I have a 1980 GL1100 and have a chance to buy a 1983 1100 for a possible
parts bike. Can anyone tell me where I might go on this site to get an idea what parts might be compatible between these 2 bikes? thanks much in advance Rick

If the 83 has a digital dash, then obviously those parts will not interchange with the analog gauges on your 1980.

There are minor differences.
The speedo gear on font wheel is different which uses a different speedo cable, The 83 has different front forks-has the anti dive, The wiring is a little different, coils are different, front calipers on the 83 has small pistons on the right side
Most of the parts will interchange.
