I have a 82 GL1100. I start it every week and let it run, Yesterday I took the bike cover off (it's been raining a lot here)The bike started right up. I rode it for about 5 minutes to a friends house, went inside for an hour. When I came out the battery was dead, I happen to be on a hill so I popped the clutch to get it started. Ran fine going home, after I shut it off it the battery was dead again. Does anyone have an idea what might cause this.

While static use a multimeter to check the battery V+, then do the same with the engine running to check the charge rate. (touch multimeter probes direct to the battery posts, and then to the battery leads), This will test battery, alternator, and loss between the battery and the battery leads, report the readings.
If at first you don't succeed, hide the evidence.
