head and brake lamps

Postby weathersh09 » Tue Aug 10, 2010 5:45 am

I'm sure this happens all the time, but this problem I notice more at night. When I squeeze the brakes, the headlights dim, and it seems to take the rear brake lights a second or two to light up. Battery? Ground wires? Anybody out there seen this one before?

It's normal - the rear brake lights take a fair amount of power. You'll see it mostly when sitting at a stop, with engine at idle, when not a lot of power is being generated by the stator. You can replace your brake lights with bright LED bulbs, and this will stop this from happening.
