150 mph speedo swap to 1980 1100

Postby crowesnest3 » Wed Aug 11, 2010 11:15 am

Anybody know if the 150 mechanical speedo found on the 1000 can be swapped out into the 1980 1100 which has the 85mph speedo? I ask for 2 reasons one being that I would prefer the 150 and second my existing speedo has decided that 34mph is as fast as it will go? od works as does tripometer. Any comments as to how to open up one of these guages? I did pick up a 150 unit off of ebay a while ago but the screws holding the face secure were out! No good that way!

you could go with the 83 speedo as its a 150 also might need to change the speedo drive at the wheel also

...or just mount a GPS. My GPS shows the speed (which, incidentally, almost always exactly matches my speedometer).
