RADIO ISSUES

Postby jhbates2000 » Tue May 10, 2016 1:03 pm

Radio that's not working
Radio that's not working

Ok folks What I have here is a radio that is not working. It worked fine last year and at the end of the summer I hit a bump in the road pretty hard and it quit working properly. Now sometimes it will work if I hit a bump but most of the time NO. I am very frustrated by this. I would like to get this one working or get another like it that does. Also another option if it is possible is to put in a newer updated radio if possible...come someone weigh and help me out on this please?

sounds like it might be as simple as a loose antenna cable. pull the radio out and make sure it didn't just come loose
also check it inside the fairing and along the frame, most of the time it runs to a connector under the seat
make sure it's not broken or damaged at the bottom of the antenna itself
also it could be the actual connector plug itself on the back of the radio

Do you lose all power to the radio? the display on the dash goes out or just lose the sound?

Maybe the fuse to the amp? Does the cb, intercom portion work when you loose radio sound? That could rule out the amp.Check the connections behind the left turn signal. In that ratsnest of wires are connectors and fuse holders, could have a intermittent fuse.

Re: RADIO ISSUES....STILL

OK so I checked all the fuses and connections behind the left turn signal. All fuse were good and appeared to be making a good connection. I turned on the radio and a little sound comes out of the speaker but you almost have to have your ear by the speaker with the volume turned up all the way to hear anything. I went to try and start the m/c but forgot that I had left the kill switch in the off position, when I hit the start button it was almost like there was a power surge to the speakers. While the bike is cranking over with the kill switch off the speakers get really loud. When I turned the switch on and started the bike the speakers just got really quiet again...Now here I sit at my computer very perplexed not understanding what exactly is going on and wishing I could listen to music while going down the road. Any help at this point would be appreciated.
