If it's the same for yourself as it is for my early gl1000, the adjustment is carried out on the pushrod under the master cylinder. Loosen the lock nut and turn the pushrod to either lengthen or shorten it as needed. If you shorten the rod, the brake pedal will get lower.
Nostalgia is not what it used to be!
