gl1100i wiring.

Postby jjunkin1 » Mon May 23, 2016 10:52 pm

Brief description bike came with two blank covers where the radio and the compressor would have been. On the left side below the soft pocket behind the blank cover is a 7 pin connector. I assume this was for the radio.
I am attempting to add a radio and am trying to find a constant hot for the clock and memory. In most auto audio the yellow wire would be used.
The above mentioned harness has a yellow wire but no power. Does anybody know if this was the factory radio harness?

Those plugs don't look like any of my radio plugs.First-you have a 81?? Your bike didn't come with a compressor, there's no blank cover for a air compressor.First year for compressor was 82.

Perhaps I should have stated that better. Bike is a 81gl 1100I per the vin plate. Previous owner must have removed some things because there are two steel blank covers. One below the left side soft pocket and the other on the right side below the locking pocket.

This is my first wing and I am not really familiar with what comes on which model.

I guess its possible that the farring is from a later bike.

That plug is unknown. BUT it is not a radio connection.

The plugs are all color coded

I think the fairing you have has just been modified. The area below the locking pocket should be solid,no cutout.Below the left pocket is where the factory radio is mounted with a box and a connector to insert the radio. If you do a search on this forum you will find pics of what it should look like.
