Side stand spring anchor points

Postby Newport » Mon Jun 06, 2016 5:08 pm

I will greatly appreciate if an 1100 owner will check this on their bike and advise me:
There is only one side stand spring shown in the parts fiche and the side stand only has one anchorage point for a spring and that is on outer edge.
Yet there is an attachment point for a further spring at the stationary end as shown in attached photo.
I want to know if this is the same on other bikes and if so does it have a purpose.
I would also like to see a photo from another bike showing just what the small "window" in outer shell of the exhaust is for.
That is also shown in the photo.

I thank you for responding.

However, I still need to understand what that pin is for and have found a matching bike in a suburb of Melbourne so will go and check that one.
As for the foot stand fitting into the cutout of the exhaust shield: I am guessing it is the end of the pivot bolt that should be in there. With the corrosion I have in centre stand cross tube it may be that the removable frame section also has a problem and I wonder if the angle of the side stand attachment point is incorrect which may be why the end of the bolt does not align with the cut-out.
All will be revealed when I get to see the other bike. Thx again.

My '80 doesn't have 1100 exhaust on it so I can't help with the recess but it does have the same inner pin for a spring like yours does. I wouldn't worry about it understanding the why of it, though.
