fork weight

My 1982 GL1100 has a large weight attached to the forks between the triple clamp and the fork brace. I have never seen this on any other wing and wondered what it's function is and if it con be removed without any adverse effects.

If you still have the factory fairing you need that weight in place. If you remove it you will affect the stability of the front end. However if you are running without the fairing feel free to remove the weight.8-)
