need to lower my GL1100

Postby T-Rat » Sat Jun 18, 2016 7:55 am

Anyone know of a way to lower the 83 Gl1100 and keep the air shocks? I have already cut the seat down but when I roll to a stop I can not get my legs set wide enough so that the rider pegs don't hit me in the back of the leg. This would normally not be a problem but I had to make a sudden stop the other day and almost got my leg caught. It could have broken my leg if my foot had caught on something that would have kept it from sliding. As it was I got a nasty bruise on my calf. I also have thought about some narrow floorboards that I might be able to put my leg out past. I only have a 29" inseam and it seems to be getting shorter as I get older........LOL...............Any ideas???

I have seen that asked on here before and don't think there was an easy fix. I will advise not to upgrade the shocks because the bike will ride higher. I am 6' on the button and unless bike is on level ground I can't flat foot it. Have you tried doing a search for old threads?

No I haven't. I had this thread on another forum and didn't get much info so I just copied and paste it on here this morning just before I left for work. Just got a chance to get back on now. I will do a search in a little bit, Thanks

I'm 6' tall and have no trouble flat footing on mine even with 45 pounds of air in the shocks. My legs are still bent at the knees a little, maybe I just have extra long legs :!:

I had no problem with mine until I installed the progressive on the rear. Sits about two inches higher now or possibly where it should sit once wore out springs were replaced.

I wonder if there is a shorter (sidewall) rear tire you can use without creating kick stands problems?
...maybe some dingo boots (I think that's what they're called-ring in the sides, and med/high heels.

My exercise bike is a goldwing.
