Rear Rotor Type

Postby str8edge » Mon Jun 27, 2016 11:43 pm

My rear brake rotor on my gl1100 Aspencade is shot, so I've been hunting the eBay for a rotor.
I noticed that there are rotors as far back as 1980, and I'm wondering if the other years are compatible, or do I have to have one specific to the 1982 model?

BTW....Thanks for all the help you guys provide!

heres a new rotor that fits the 82-83 GL1100 aspencades..............http://www.ebay.com/itm/EBC-Pro-lite-Re ... 7O&vxp=mtr it aint cheap, but if your buying a rotor, may as well by new, bolt it on and dont worry about it anymore. it will probably outlast the bike.

stuart.

I saw that one, as well as a cheaper option from a company called bike master. Has anyone used a bike master rotor before?

The rear brake rotor for the 1982 Aspencade is unique to that bike...as a result, they are EXTREMELY rare and expensive.

If a site is telling you something like "fits 80-83 GL1100" then you can guarantee that it will NOT fit your 82 Aspencade. If it says "1982 GL1100" and does not say "1982 GL1100 Aspencade" then it will not fit your bike.

Thanks for the replies...
What's the chance that I can get a decent one on flea bay?

I guess I would need to know the width of the rotor when it's stock?
