Rear Shocks GL1100

Postby dean64 » Sat Aug 21, 2010 4:14 pm

I rescently purchased a 1980 interstate in really good condition with only 24,000 miles. The rear shocks seem to "bottom out on the bumps" the shocks don't seem to be leaking, but I haven't take the bags off to get a good look. I was told that the oil may need changed. Can some one tell me if this is a possibility and if so how to change it. I want to make sure it is something I can handle before I start disassembling things Thanks

Have you checked/adjusted the air pressure in the shocks first?

the springs are sacked and need to be replaced. i bleave you can get progressive springs if you want to rebuild your shocks or buy progressive shocks, air or hydrolic
