According to the owners manual, 97 inches for the 83 Aspy,(actually 96.9)

When I hauled my Interstate in the trailer I borrowed from a friend it was 8 feet insie the bed. HOWEVER when loaded I was fortunate that the front wall was bent outward and the tailgate was short. It was an open trailer. The bike cleared by a few inches, do your self a favor and get a 10 foot. If you install a front wheel chock that will eat up your margin for sure. They say 96" but that doesn't take into consideration the trunk or any bumpers, if they're aftermarket and you have a high tailgate.
