problems with a 1983

Postby mech63s » Wed Aug 05, 2009 8:12 pm

It pops through the carbs at about 2400rpm. I also have 150 psi on one cylinder and 170psi on the rest. any Ideas before I tear the motor apart

I'd be looking at the carbs first before tearing the motor apart. The compression isn't that far off that it should be causing popping through the carbs.

Thats what I was thinking. But it is beyond tolerance, its more than 15psi out than the rest. I wonder it the compression problem is in the head since the other 3 cylinders all check good? hmm idunno I do know rebuilding these things is expensive. So if the carbs are out of synch it can cause this?

If it's happening at 2400 rpm, it's not carb sync causing it, it's something else. Carbs might be due for a rebuild, could be a stuck jet, any number of things. But I'd bet on carbs rather than compression.
