Coolant in Oil

Postby str8edge » Sun Aug 14, 2016 12:55 pm

I'm having an issue with coolant getting inside the oil.
Usually, a dead giveaway is the bike smoking. This isn't happening.
What we are looking at is the water pump, because it looks like a previous owner used gasket sealer to fix it.
Before we pull this thing to see what is going on, has anyone else has a situation like this where the head gasket was the culprit without it smoking? Or another way that coolant ended up in their oil?

Hopefully water pump is a only problem .As you already know that pump is not up to the task,my suggestion is as follows :
•NEW GENUINE WATER PUMP ,
•WATER PUMP GASKET KIT.
If engine was "abused" chances are that problem isn't only water pump ,but hope for a simple solution . Worst case scenario is broken " O "ring gasket in the middle of crank case mating surfaces that seals antifreeze away from oil .
Start with obvious problem and go from there .
Flash radiator before installation of new WP and gaskets.
Install WP and gaskets and refill with destiled water in order to make sure that no leeks are present . If OK , refill with proper amount of antifreeze , burp the sistem and you should be ready to go.
You will find in "how to "all necessary guidance for this task.
Keep us posted on progress so we can help you out if necessary .
Regards Zoran

Yep- its the water pump. A very good DIY on this site. Not too hard- just keep an eye on the water pump bolts as they are different sizes, its too easy to get them mixed up!

Thank you for the replies. Turns out the mechanic that originally diagnosed this issue was completely wrong. But thanks for the help!

Hmmm, drain bolt loose ,no washer, hose clamp loose, hose leak, O-rings on top, lower water neck ???
I'm going for the drain plug. Looks like another unsolved mystery.........
