1100 Push cable

Postby Bubba54 » Thu Aug 18, 2016 4:30 pm

New to me '83 Aspencade. Can't get an idle speed. Looks like previous owner put on new push cable when he put on new set of carbs. The cable end at the grip where it screws into the housing is tight at the nut but the elbow has a lot of play where it goes through the nut. what might be the problem?

Starts up fine but idle runs 3-4000rpms then drops down to 6-700rpms and stalls unless you goose it. The idle adjustment is all the way in and still does it. The idle can be adjusted by the choke but runs high. I have checked for vacuum leaks and can't find any. The throttle doesn't snap back like all my other bikes have. This is my 6th Goldwing project and I have never had this issue before. Stumped :?: :?: :?:

It sounds like maybe the new push cable is misrouted or it or the pull cable is binding.

With the bike turned off check the action at the throttle grip for full/complete/ easy operation at the rear of the carbs. If correct, when you open the throttle all the way at the grip and let go it should snap back to the idle adjustment screw stop.

Did you happen to check the throttle lock to see if it was dragging? Cables have to be in no bind to operate. Pull the shelter and check routing with all the other stuff every one has said. Lets us know.
